Willingness to Accept of Adopting Sustainable Terubok Fisheries in Sarawak by Using Contingent Valuation Method

Sarawak is well known with its Terubok which scientifically as Tropical shad Tenualosa. In Sarawak, there are two types of Tenualosa that found namely toli and macura. However, due to the overexploitation heavy fishing terubok, total catch landing has been declining. Therefore, main objective this study investigate potential establishing sustainable terubok fisheries in order sustain population livelihoods fisherman. This conducted core area Batang Lupar, Lassa Sadong. employed Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) estimate willingness accept (WTA) fisherman conserve terubok. out bidding amount, race Malay Melanau, size household experience may affect WTA fishers. Besides, RM 301.08 average amount compensation will be given populations. also recommends should more educated andeducational training for provided so they realize importance conserving Terubok.
